Widevine and PlayReady URL Parameter Behavior Update Coming April 2, 2025
On April 2, 2025, Uplynk plans to better enforce which DRM is used for Widevine or PlayReady when using the Rights Management Type (rmt) URL parameter. Currently, Uplynk sends DRM information for both Widevine and PlayReady when rmt=pr
or rmt=wv
, but this increases the time required before an asset can be played back. Going forward, Uplynk is going to strictly enforce the rmt URL parameter so only the DRM information for the DRM specified by the rmt paramter will be sent.
If you are using PlayReady or Widevine DRM, you should make sure that your playback URLs are specifying the DRM you are actually using (rmt=pr
for PlayReady or rmt=wv
for Widevine) or your playback will fail once we make this change.
If you require the Rights Management Type parameter to work as it currently does on April 2, 2025, contact Support or your Technical Account Manager and we can update your account to maintain the current bevavior.
