Subtitles
You can add, update, or delete subtitle tracks directly from any asset in the Uplynk platform. Subtitle tracks allow you to deliver content in multiple languages, and fine-tune how they appear on screen. Whether you’re localizing content or enhancing the viewer experience with aligned positioning, subtitles can be easily managed through a streamlined UI on each asset.
Adding Subtitles
To add subtitles to an asset:
- Go to the asset detail page.
- Click the Subtitles tab.
- Click the + Subtitle button.
- Fill in the Add subtitles form:
Field | Required | Description |
---|---|---|
Description | ✅ | The name of the subtitle track. For example, “English CC” or “Spanish.” |
Language | ✅ | The ISO 639 language code, typically 2–3 characters (e.g., en , es , fra ). |
Absolute Time | Optional | Enable this to align subtitles with the start of the video. Disable it to keep the timing from the original file. |
Horizontal | Optional | Default horizontal alignment for subtitles only if the file doesn’t include positioning. Options may include Left, Center, or Right. |
Vertical | Optional | Default vertical alignment for subtitles only if the file doesn’t include positioning. Options may include Top, Middle, or Bottom. |
Subtitle File | ✅ | Upload your .srt , .vtt , or .ttml . You can drag and drop the file, or click Browse Files. |
Click Create to upload the track. Once added, the subtitle appears as a new row in the subtitle table for that asset.
Editing Subtitles
To edit an existing subtitle track:
- Go to the Subtitles tab on the asset page.
- Click the row for the subtitle you want to edit. This opens the edit modal.
- The same form will appear, with your current values filled in.
- Some fields—like file upload and alignment settings—may be locked unless you upload a new file.
- Click Update to save your changes.
Deleting Subtitles
To delete a subtitle track:
- Go to the Subtitles tab on the asset page.
- Find the subtitle row you want to remove.
- Click the trash icon in that row.
- Confirm the deletion.
This removes the subtitle from the asset. It does not delete the original file from your media storage.
